The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency certifies banks that are women-owned. There aren’t many.
There are currently 13 certified women-owned banks in the United States.
These 13 banks currently make up less than half of one percent of all ~5,000 banks in the U.S.
It’s important that ownership and control within the banking industry be representative of the population it serves, and in regards to women’s ownership in banking, we’re far from that.
